Article Publishing Credits

What are Publishing Credits?

The library has been able to negotiate with some of the journal publishers we subscribe to to provide a limited number of journal publishing credits. This means that the publishers will provide either a partial or full discount for publishing articles in a select range of over 2200 different journals.

To make use of these credits the author submitting the article will need to declare their affiliation with either Royal Melbourne Hospital or Royal Women's Hospital, and submit their manuscript using their institutional email address.

The current publishing credit deals the the library has access to, as well as lists of the journals they cover are listed below:

For Royal Melbourne Hospital Staff:

    • Cambridge University Press: If you are affiliated with Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH), the Peter Doherty Institute or the Victorian Infectious Diseases Reference Laboratory, you can publish your article Open Access - at no cost to you - in selected gold and hybrid journals. For more specific criteria on eligability and the available journals please see the eligability checker here.
    • (Please note available credits are currently expired for the year) Springer Nature Publications: A limited number of publishing credits are available to be used in a range of Open Access Springer Nature publications. Once those credits are exhausted publishing credits will no longer be available.
For more specific details on eligibility as well as information on how to apply to have your article covered by the publishing credits please refer to this page from Springer Nature Publishing, and specifically to this list of eligible journals and this authors guide.
    • Ovid (Wolters Kluwer): To qualify, the corresponding author must list the participating institution as Royal Melbourne Hospital and use their Melbourne Health email address in the journal’s submission system. Once accepted, the corresponding author will be asked to place an open-access order in the publisher’s payment portal where they will be able to request the APC (publishing credits) be funded in accordance with this agreement.
