When does my membership expire?

  • 1 year from the date you sign up for permanent and Nurse Bank Staff
  • If you are an HMO, Registrar or Intern, at the end of January each year
  • At the date listed on your membership form

Mental Health Staff

When does my membership expire?

  • After 1 year for permanent Staff
  • On the date noted on your membership form

Membership Eligibility

Library membership is free.

 

  • Royal Melbourne, Royal Women’s and Peter Mac Hospital employees.
  • Mental health staff currently employed in agencies funded by The Victorian Department of Health and Human Services - Mental Health Division.
  • University of Melbourne 2nd, 3rd and 4th year medical students.
  • Affiliated students on placement.

 

  • Onsite staff and students must present a current RMH, RWH or PMCC staff photo ID card.
  • Mental Health employees and offsite staff must provide relevant work details. Upon eligibility verification, your Library Card details will be emailed to you.

 

  • Membership is valid for 1year (or for the period of your work placement if less than 1 year).
  • Renew your membership or update your details in person or over the phone during office hours or via the online form 24/7.

 

Membership Information

  • RMH, RWH and PMCC Staff need to visit the library with a valid library membership card/membership number in order to borrow items.
  • Mental Health borrowers can visit in person or have items sent to either their work or home address.
  • RMH – Royal Park based staff can visit in person or have items sent to their work address via the internal courier.
  • Items cannot be borrowed after hours.
  • Please notify us if your personal details change (e.g. address, mobile number or email address).
  • Online eBooks and eJournals are accessible via the Library Webpage. These can be viewed directly online 24/7. Log in using your Library membership number.

 

  • You may borrow up to 5 items at any given time.
  • The main collection is available for 3 week loans.
  • Reserve Collection is available for 1 week loans, and cannot be renewed.

 

  • The main collection can be renewed up to 2 times providing the item is not overdue or reserved by another Library Member.
  • Renew online (login to your online library account), in person or over the phone during office hours

 

  • Items can be returned in person to the Health Sciences Library at RMH City Campus.
  • An after-hours return chute is available at the entrance to the Library. If you do not have after-hours access and the entrance to the education precinct is locked, please see security staff for access.
  • Offsite members (Royal Park and Mental Health) can return books via the Melbourne Health Courier Service (if applicable) or via registered post.

 

  • When using the library's electronic resources and other materials, Members acknowledge that they will comply with any applicable Australian copyright laws or licence agreements, and terms and conditions of any third-party supplier/provider of Library resources.

 

  • You may be fined for books returned after the due date.
  • The Health Sciences Library may email reminders and overdue notices as a courtesy. Failure to receive any Library notices has no impact on responsibilities as a borrower.
  • Membership may be suspended if you have overdue items and outstanding charges.

 

  • Lost/damaged items will incur replacement costs.
  • If you are using a physical library card please report lost cards to the library immediately to avoid potential misuse of you card.

Monday - Thursday: 10am - 2pm
